Collared Dove

A large family of 308 species Worldwide, of which 7 species occur in the UK.  Rock Dove, Stock Dove, Wood Pigeon and Collared Dove are resident breeders.  Turtle Dove is a scarce summer migrant breeder.  Oriental turtle dove and Laughing Dove are very rare vagrants to Britain.  Unlike most birds, Doves and Pigeons can lower their beaks and suck up water.
