There are 96 species of Lark in the World.  Ten species have occurred in the UK, of which only 2; Common Skylark and Woodlark breed here.  Horned Lark is a scarce passage and winter visitor to Britain.  Short-toed Lark is a rare annual vagrant, while Crested, Lesser short-toed, Calandra, Bimaculated are very rare to these shores.  Black Lark is a recent addition to the British List with two records

Of the 45 Pipit species throughout the World, 11 occur in the UK.  Three species breed here; Meadow, Rock and Tree Pipits.  Water Pipit overwinters is small numbers and Tawny and Richard's Pipits are annual vagrants.  Red-throated and Olive-backed Pipits are rare, while Blyth's, Buff-bellied and Pechora Pipits are very rare vagrants.
